BTW Scott, I'd really like you to tell me when you understand the deep structural meaning to the ending of your own book :o ! Even if it's a decade from now . . .

For those of you who've read Scott's book (Outlet or a Heaven Full of Televisions) and recall that nasty piece of humanity called Phil Maderson (not his real name), the band manager . . . Well, the band that he's now managing was just on Comedy Central tonight. Don't wanna say too much cuz I don't wanna get sued. And Scott said if this guy read the book, he sure would do that...

Gail,

You wouldn't want me to say too much about the ending of the book because it would surely cause further antagonization and re-instigate the e-war ensuing between Homeland Security and this press.

Or maybe not: I guess it's a sort of metaphysical ending. Depending on you take it--metaphorically or metonymically or literally--it deals with issues of death and re-birth (following the whole coming of age, innocence thing, as well as the symbols of heaven and religiosity and the narrative focus on rehabilitating and suicide, etc. ad. inf.)

But now I feel like I kind of killed a secret--or maybe, perhaps, just obscured it even further.

Scott

Ah, thanks for reminding me of that little problem. I have so many problems I'm juggling, and that one just got caught in the light fixture... But yes, yes, the Police State would not take kindly to that. And I guess I've already seen that they're a wee bit stronger than I am, sigh. (BASTARDS!)

As far as enlightening or obscuring the ending, I think you managed to do both just fine. (And that takes talent!)

But actually (ssshhhhh...) that wasn't what I was talking about. Talk to me in ten years, maybe...

Oh, and I think I'm gonna change that one excerpt on the site about "the girl" to the orgy sale scene. What do you think?

Also, it's on my list of things to do to get some flash going on the site-- pop-ups of book quote to engender interest. So if you'd like to pick out maybe 6 short hooky quotes...

Yes, I do like the leather-shoe and what-not orgy scene quite a bit. I think it would probably attract interest, at least--I would hope! Who wouldn't be compelled to read a book after perusing an excerpt that involves people of all ages, shapes and sizes thrashing wildly in erotic lust, using various objects in a cheap clearance shoe store to pleasure themselves in hitherto unmentionable ways? Fucking A.

And, yes, give me ten years.... For now I think maybe I have obscured myself (if that makes sense).

Scott

PS: The "girl" read the book and, thus, about the "girl," and she liked it although I don't think she would tell me otherwise.

I trust that she actually liked it. It's on my list then, to switch the scenes... I just had a soft spot for that other one, you know...

Come up with the short quotes, too, OK?

BTW, the world (as we know it) is ending... Check out NASA scientist's predictions under "Shit Going On." So you'd better write quickly!

Also, have you evr seen The Minneapolis Liberator? It's pretty radical (politically), a good one, and the editors says he'll do some excerpts of our books--what scene would you go for for that?

Maybe Newt in the bathroom would be a good one for such venue. I don't know. That was off the top of my head.

I hope the world ends. That would be the greatest muse! There would be so much material to write about with something as epic as complete annihilation taking place. Christ, Jackson!

Ah, fie; fie on it.

Gail, I found this website and it's really really fucking weird.

http://outlet.obzory.cz/spain/folsomoutletstore.html

It's all non-sensical, just a collage-like thing of words, but it's broken up into paragraphs, and one can kind of see where maybe they're trying to say something. I don't know. For some reason my name is in it (the only name in it, I think) as is Minnesota and outlet etc. etc.

What is this?

Dude, it's probably some shadow from your past trying to drive you crazy. Recently had someone ask me if I knew anyone who'd be trying to drive me crazy; it's something just going around as the ozone layer thins and the matter-y vibrations are raised (That's why there's been an increase in sightings of shadow people, aliens, angels, squirrels and such :? .)

In other words, don't ask me! Weird... Were you googling and found it? Maybe it's just cuz of your association with me? My friends used to tell me that strangeness seemed to only happen when I was around :o .

And Pat, I forgot to address this but yes, I actually saw a mainstream article even talking about google as a verb 8) ! If people are alive, language changes. The ones who want it to remain the same are actually zombies; watch out for them!

Methinks I smell a story behind that. Hang on--you'll survive! (C?)

Weren't you gonna post a short story, too?

Hmm...were my vibrations that obvious or are you just that insightful (wink, wink)? Yes, indeed. To all hell with shadows from the past. Ah, it's nothing I really want to talk about on an open forum, but there's certainly a story to that. Thanks for the words of encouragement, by the way.

I'm going to post a short story or two now.

Hmmm.
